Becoming an Electrical Signing Supervisor (Master Electrician)

This is a 40-hour in-person comprehensive course in preparation for taking the State of Oregon examination for Electrical Signing Supervisors (Master Electrician) and Electrical Inspector Certification. The course will cover all of the National Electrical Code (NEC) Chapters, in conjunction with the 2017 Oregon Electrical Specialty Code (OESC), formal interpretations, and State of Oregon Rules and Statutes. There will be extensive study of the NEC requirements with home study of multiple choice questions for each attendee. In addition, there will be multiple electrical calculations that will include residential, commercial and industrial facilities. This course will earn 16 hours of CEU’s in Oregon and Washington.

National Electrical Code Significant Changes

This is a presentation of major changes of the 2017 National Electrical Code (NEC). This course is setup for the residential or commercial inspector or installers to identify  the change, the intent of the rule change, and also to explain how the change will affect field installations. The seminar covers over 250 of the significant changes and includes information on interpretations by the code-making panels. This course can be broken into smaller CEU segments as needed. This course is approved for up to 12 hours CEU’s in Oregon and 8 hours or CEU’s in Washington.

Conductor Installation

This 4 hour course (Washington CEU’s) is a close examination of electrical conductor uses, properties, and NEC requirements for the for the installation. The 2017 NEC sections will be Table 8, Chapter 9, selected portions of Articles 110, 210, 215, 300, and 310 of the NEC. Topics will cover parallel conductors, conductor size and ratings that will include some in class calculations. There will be discussion of grounding, bonding and ampacity correction factors. This course will address differences between the NEC and the OESC when specific code references that are part of the program.

Transformers

This 4 hour or 8 hour approved course for Washington CEU’s providing a detailed examination of electrical conductor uses, properties, and 2017 NEC requirements for Transformer installations. Topics will cover parallel conductors, conductor sizing and ratings that will include some in class calculations. there will be discussion of grounding, bonding with the conductor sizing. This course will address differences between the NEC and the OESC when specific code references as part of the program.

Calculations

This is a course where the attendee performs electrical calculations in the classroom based on the currently adopted Oregon Speciality Electrical Code (OESC).

Soares Grounding and Bonding

The 4-hr Par 1 presentation will provide clarification and understanding of the changes to 2017 Grounding and Bonding of the “National Electrical Code” (NEC). Training will cover grounding fundamentals, /electrical service grounding, bonding jumpers, grounding electrode conductors and equipment grounding.

The 4-hr Par 2 presentation will provide clarification and understanding of the changes to 2017 Grounding and Bonding of the “National Electrical Code” (NEC). Training will cover (transformer) separately derived systems, grounding and bonding as separate buildings or structures, and grounding bonding of low voltage system intersystem grounding.
